    The Best Chocolate Chip Brownies!

If you love chocolate brownies, then you need to try these chocolate chip brownies. Made with a simple cocoa brownie base, I add in delicious chocolate chips to make the best brownies ever.

This recipe is made with basic pantry ingredients and no melted chocolate required. To get that chocolatey flavor, I add both cocoa powder to the brownie batter and mix in milk chocolate chips before baking.

These brownies have moist crumbs and perfect balance of flavors without being overly sweet. It's truly the perfect brownie recipe.

I like to use this as a base for my homemade brownie recipe. From there, you can add in other flavorings and make the brownies truly unique. See my recipe variations below!

So, if you love brownies, give these Chocolate Chip Brownies a try! It's one simple dessert you don't want to miss.

    Ingredients

Ingredients for recipe including eggs, flour, vanilla, and sugar.
    • Flour: use all purpose flour. Measure the flour using a scale for best results.
    • Cocoa Powder: use unsweetened cocoa powder. I recommend Hershey's cocoa powder. (Make sure you are not using dutch-processed cocoa powder).
    • Baking Powder: make sure you are using baking powder and not baking soda.
    • Salt: kosher salt helps to balance the flavors.
    • Butter: use unsalted butter. You can melt the butter on the stove top over medium heat, or microwave it for less clean up.
    • Sugar: granulated sugar is best. Brown sugar can be substituted and will give you chewier brownies.
    • Eggs: use two large room temperature eggs.
    • Vanilla: a bit of vanilla extract adds great flavor.
    • Chocolate Chips: chocolate chip brownies need some chocolate chips in them! Use semi sweet, milk, or dark chocolate chips.

    Brownie Variations

Chocolate Chip Brownies serve as a great base recipe. Change up the flavor of the brownies by substituting the chocolate chips for:

    • peanut butter chips
    • white chocolate chips
    • butterscotch chips
    • chopped walnuts

How to Make Easy Chocolate Chip Brownies

This brownie recipe is so easy to make and all you need is a baking pan and wooden spoon! Start by greasing a 9 x 9 inch baking dish with nonstick cooking spray and lining the pan with parchment paper; set aside.

    Step 1: mix dry ingredients

Flour, cocoa, baking powder, and salt mixed together in a glass mixing bowl.

In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Make sure you mix until all of the ingredients are well incorporated.

    Step 2: mix wet ingredients

Eggs, oil, sugar, and vanilla added to the batter.

In a separate large bowl, combine the melted butter and sugar until combined. Then, add in the eggs and vanilla and mix well, scraping down the sides of the bowl if needed.

Add in the dry ingredients and stir until well combined. Use a rubber spatula to scrape down the sides of the bowl.

Lastly, add in the chocolate chips and mix until well combined.

    Step 3: bake and cool

Batter spread into the lined baking pan.

Pour the brownie batter into the prepared pan, smoothing the top so it spreads evenly into the pan.

Bake the brownies on the center rack of your preheated oven for about 22-25 minutes. Be careful not to over bake. You'll know the brownies are done with a toothpick inserted in the center of the brownie comes out almost clean.

Cool the pan on a wire cooling rack for at least 10 minutes. Remove from pan and cut into squares.

Tips for Making Chocolate Chip Brownies

    • Weigh your flour and cocoa powder for accurate measurement.
    • Be careful not to over mix the batter. You just want to mix until the ingredients are incorporated.
    • Use room temperature eggs so the batter comes together easier.
    • Use semi-sweet chocolate chips for a less sweet finish. You can also use dark chocolate or milk chocolate chips depending on preferences.
    • For extra chocolate flavor, top the brownies with a simple chocolate frosting.
    • This easy brownie recipe serves as a great base recipe! Add in other favorite mix ins such as: chopped walnuts, white chocolate chips, or a swirl of peanut butter.
    • Store leftover brownies in an airtight container at room temperature for three days, or refrigerate for a week.
