Cold drinks are perfect on a hot summer day and making your own Starbucks copycat recipes at home is so much easier and cheaper!

When you’re craving a refreshing, creamy vanilla drink without the caffeine kick, this vanilla frappe is an excellent choice. All you need are milk, vanilla extract and some sugar. It doesn’t get any easier than this 3 ingredient vanilla frappe recipe.

    Why You’ll Love This Recipe

This creamy drink is so easy that kids can make a it too. It's deliciously creamy with the perfect amount of vanilla and sweetness.

The perfect cream-based drink alternative to a vanilla milkshake or sugar filled frappes. Sorry coffee lovers, but there's no coffee base in this drink which means no coffee flavors.

    Ingredients You Need

    • Milk: I use whole milk for a richer flavor, but use your favorite milk. Unsweetened almond milk and coconut milk also work.
    • Vanilla extract: Add a teaspoon of vanilla extract to intensify the vanilla flavor.
    • Sugar: I use granulated sugar, but other sugars work too.
    • Whipped cream: This is optional, but adds great flavor!
    • Maraschino cherries: An optional garnish!

How To Make A Vanilla Frappé

Step 1. Prepare milk cubes: Freeze milk in an ice cube tray 2 hours (or the night) before making the frappe to make milk ice cubes.

Step 2. Blend ingredients: In a high-powered smoothie blender, combine milk cubes, milk, vanilla extract, and sugar to taste.

Step 3. Blend until smooth: Puree the mixture until all the milk cubes are broken down into a smooth, milkshake-like consistency.

Step 4. Serve: Pour the blended frappe into a serving glass. Garnish with whipped cream and maraschino cherries if desired.

    Tips

    • If you want to amp up the vanilla flavor, add ½ of a real vanilla bean (gently cut lengthwise along the long edge of the vanilla bean and using the back side of a knife scrape the beans out of the pod) before blending to make a vanilla bean frappe. You can also add vanilla bean paste or vanilla bean powder.
    • To give your frappe a coffee boost, you can add a ½ cup of coffee or espresso to the recipe. Instant coffee also work.

Frequently Asked Questions About This Vanilla Frappuccino Recipe

What is the difference between a frappe and a frappuccino?

Nothing! They are the same thing!

How should I store leftover frappuccino?

I recommend enjoying the frappe immediately, but you can store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator. Give it a quick stir before drinking.

Can I freeze the frappe for later use?

I don't recommend freezing the completed frappe, you can freeze the milk cubes separately and blend them when you're ready to enjoy.
