Cinnamon Toast Crunch Churros
Cinnamon Toast Crunch churros, the crispy, cinnamon-sugar-coated treats that take your breakfast cereal to a whole new level.
Ingredients
- 1 cup water
- ½ cup unsalted butter
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 3 large eggs
- ½ cup Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal crushed
- ¼ cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- Vegetable oil, for frying
Instructions
- In a medium saucepan, combine water, butter, and salt over medium heat. Bring to a boil.
- Reduce heat to low and add flour all at once. Stir vigorously until the mixture forms a ball and pulls away from the sides of the pan, about 1-2 minutes.
- Remove from heat and let the mixture cool for a few minutes.
- Add eggs one at a time, stirring until each egg is fully incorporated before adding the next. The mixture should be smooth and glossy.
- Mix together crushed Cinnamon Toast Crunch, sugar, and cinnamon in a shallow dish.
- Heat vegetable oil in a deep pot or fryer to 375°F.
- Spoon churro batter into a piping bag fitted with a tip.
- Pipe 4-5 inch long strips of batter into the hot oil, cutting each one off with scissors or a knife.
- Fry for 2-3 minutes, until golden brown and crispy. Drain on a paper towel-lined plate.
- While still warm, roll churros in the Cinnamon Toast Crunch mixture until coated. Serve warm and enjoy!
Notes
- When crushing the Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal, aim for a fine consistency with a few slightly larger cereal pieces. This will give your churros a balanced crunch and help the coating adhere well.
- Avoid overcrowding the pot or fryer. Fry the churros in small batches to allow them enough space to cook evenly and prevent them from sticking together.
- For a different flavor profile, try using a different variety of the Toast Crunch family of cereals. Sugar Cookie Toast Crunch, Chocolate Toast Crunch or Cinnamon Toast Crunch Churros cereal would also be great.
- Storing: Store cooled churros in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days. However, they are best when fresh.
- Freezing: Freeze cooled churros by placing them on a baking sheet until firm, then transferring to a freezer-safe bag. They can be frozen for up to 1 month.
